Russell Green

Student-at-Law

Practice Description

Russell Green began his articles with Shores Jardine LLP in August 2020. He assists senior lawyers with a wide variety of administrative law, health law, and professional regulatory matters.

Background

Russell grew up in Lancer, Saskatchewan surrounded by the idyllic yet hectic life of the family farm. Prior to law school, he attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated as the Most Outstanding Graduate in Political Studies in 2016. Among other things, he enjoyed his time working at a research lab, where he ran unsuspecting undergraduates through social science experiments. While studying politics and government, Russell developed a keen interest in how public institutions influence the lives of ordinary people. This interest led him to pursue a career in public law.

While attending law school at the University of Alberta, Russell enjoyed volunteering with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and Student Legal Services Legal Education Project. As well, he served for two years as Secretary for OUTlaw, the law school’s LGBTQ2s+ and ally student group. Russell particularly enjoyed courses in Constitutional, Aboriginal, and Administrative law and was honored to receive the Sydney B Woods, QC Memorial Prize in Constitutional Law in 2018. During his law school summers, Russell worked for the Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA) in 2018 and the Centre for Constitutional Studies in 2019.

  • 2020 – JD (with Distinction) – University of Alberta

In His Own Words

I am excited to gain experience in Administrative law at Shores Jardine LLP. The administrative state is an often-overlooked component of government, but administrative decision makers issue rulings that have considerable impacts on the public. I am excited to learn more about these processes and help people along the way!

Away From The Office

In his spare time, Russell enjoys traveling, cooking, going for long walks, and learning new things.
