Practice Description

Ashley began her articles with Shores Jardine LLP in July 2020. She assists senior lawyers with a wide range of administrative law, municipal law and professional regulation matters.

Background

Ashley grew up in Cremona, Alberta working on her family’s farm. Her rural background remained a motivating force during her post-secondary years. For her undergraduate honours thesis, she surveyed local farmers about their perspectives on proposed legislation. In law school, Ashley researched human rights application to rural and remote populations. She also volunteered to bring her legal knowledge back to her hometown community by giving presentations on the Canadian legal system to high school students.

During the course of her law degree, Ashley pursued as much practical legal experience as possible. She participated in three competitive moots and interned with the Edmonton Mental Health court. She also volunteered with Student Legal Services.

She also gained practical administrative law experience working as a policy analyst for a large professional regulator. In this summer position, Ashley explored the impacts that regulators have on the everyday employment of Albertan professionals. She credits this summer work for fostering her interest in professional regulation and administrative law.
