Background

Tracy completed both her undergraduate degree and law degree at the University of Alberta. Throughout law school, Tracy participated in competitive mooting, volunteered at Student Legal Services, and completed a summer internship at a regulatory commission in Edmonton.

Prior to law school, Tracy worked in marketing and business development. Her experiences taught her how to collaborate with her clients, focus on their expectations, and communicate effectively to meet their needs and ensure she is providing them with creative problem-solving solutions.

Tracy joined Shores Jardine in February 2022. Tracy practices in the areas of administrative, municipal, employment, and professional regulatory law. Notably, she is interested in how these areas of law have a considerable and tangible impact on the everyday lives of the public and she wants to assist others to ensure this integral intersection between the public and the law continues to be fair and balanced.

Tracy acts as general counsel and independent counsel for numerous professional regulators and student unions as well as appears before various tribunals in a prosecutorial role. She is a member of both the Alberta and the Northwest Territories bar and has a restricted appearance certificate in Nunavut.

In her own words

Effective advocacy does not necessarily require confrontation. Although in some situations it may be required, resolution is often better achieved through other means such as effective communication, knowledge and understanding of the issues and subject matter, and integrity in dealing with others.

Away From the Office

In her spare time, Tracy enjoys cuddling with her three fur babies, playing board games, and travelling. To stay active, Tracy enjoys doing yoga and going for bike rides. She also signs up for a race each summer to try and justify calling herself a “runner”.
